

Try this delicious recipe! Skillet apples with vanilla custard. Preparation time: 5 minutes - Cooking time: 18 minutes 1/4 cup butter 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar 2 tablespoons carnstarch 1 pint (2 cups) half & half unltra pasteurized 1/4 cup light corn syrup 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 medium sized tart cooking apples, cored, cut in half crosswise. 1/2 T. Cinnamon. In a 10-inch skillet melt butter until sizzling, stir in brown sugar and cornstarch, stir in all remaining ingredients except apples. Cook over medium - low heat, stirring constantly until thickened (6-8 minutes). Place apples, cut-side down, in cream mixture. Cover; continue cooking, spooning sauce over apples occasionally, until apples are fork tender (12-15 minutes). Place apples on individual dessert dishes. With wire whisk, stir sauce until smooth. Serve sauce over apple halves. 
Note: It's still possible to get Michigan apples at your local grocery store, though you might have to ask specifically for Michigan apples. |
